Setting up a home office in your garage

With more and more people working from home due to the current pandemic that has swept across the globe, people are looking for ways in which they can turn existing space that they have into an office. For some people this could be turning a spare bedroom into a working space and for others it could be converting the garage.

Garage space is often used as a dumping ground for all the items that you no longer use or need so why not convert this into an office.

Here are some things that you will need to think about.

  • Ventilation is incredibly important if you are using a garage as a working space and you should ensure that you have windows that are able to be opened to give you fresh air throughout the day.

  • You also need to think about how damp proof this space is and you may need to have some interior cladding put in place. This is relatively easy to do and anyone with some basic DIY skills could do this themselves.

  • If you are going to be storing work equipment in the office you need to make sure that it is secure and locked up correctly at the end of the day. You may also want to invest in some CCTV and perhaps an alarm.
