Clear out the garden this winter

The autumn season is a great time to think about giving your garden a good clear out. When all your flowers have died back and the weather starts turning a little colder and wetter it is a great time to dig out your gardening tools and start tidying the garden ready for the winter.

In order to do this successfully there are a number of pieces of equipment that you will want to have close by, like a spade or shovel to help you to dig out any plants such as annuals that will not return the following year. You will also want a way to dispose of the garden waste and a trailer is a good way to do this. Just make sure that it is in good working order and if needed replace any of these auto and trailer parts if broken or damaged.

Cutting back your shrubs and tall plants is a good place to start and you can do this as soon as they have finished flowering. Some plants such as fuschias and buddleias need to be cut back quite strongly to help them to flourish the following year, whilst other plants such as red robin shrubs only need a little trim here and there.

You should also make sure you have some time set aside to give your lawn one last mow before the frost and colder weather sets in.
